Building Tomorrow: The International Summer School sus^cool 2026 is taking place again at Hochschule Campus Wien

What does the future of sustainable architecture look like when it is built by your own hands?
In the summer semester of 2026, Hochschule Campus Wien will once again host the international summer school sus^cool, dedicated to biobased building materials and hands-on construction with wood and clay.

After a successful first edition, the program returns with an extended format that combines academic input, practical experimentation, and full-scale 1:1 building projects.

Two parts – one immersive learning experience

1. Virtual Module (05 March – 07 May 2026)
Participants receive a comprehensive introduction to biobased materials through a series of evening lectures held online every Thursday. International experts from architecture, engineering, and materials research provide insights into renewable resources, circular design strategies, and regenerative construction.

2. Hands-on Workshops in Vienna (06 – 17 July 2026)
The core of sus^cool: two intensive weeks of designing and building with clay and wood. Working on full-scale prototypes, students will test material behavior, explore traditional and contemporary techniques, and create 1:1 structures directly on site.

Academic benefits

Students of the Architecture – Green Building program have courses from their curriculum credited for their participation. The earned credits are also transferable to other national and international universities.
