Architecture students craft a sustainable pavilion for sus^cool 2025
06.12.24
Fifth-semester architecture students embraced the challenge of designing a sustainable pavilion for SUS^COOL 2025, an international summer school focused on green innovation. The project involved creating a multifunctional space for welcoming visitors, displaying the event’s logo, providing registration services, distributing materials, and facilitating networking in a comfortable sitting area. Through a series of collaborative workshops, the students explored circular design principles and harnessed data-driven production methods. Using digital tools, their concepts were transformed into intelligent models, which were sent to CNC machines for precise fabrication. The final components were delivered to our GreenBuildingLab, where the team constructed the pavilion in just three hours using a stackable plywood system. This hands-on experience emphasized the lifecycle of materials, traditional and digital craftsmanship, and eco-conscious construction methods. The project not only prepared students for future challenges in sustainable architecture but also demonstrated how innovative approaches can transform design education. The pavilion, debuting in July 2025, will symbolize collaboration and sustainability, showcasing the potential of merging education, technology, and environmental responsibility.
